Demolition Derby Round 2

Last Friday Kyle and I headed out to Jay County to the fair to see the Demolition Derby.  If you remember from last year, we had a lot of fun.  This year's fair/derby excursion was different in a few ways.  Overall, I'm not sure that this derby was as exciting as last year's.  First, there seemed to be a lot less contestants.  Nothing really caught on fire, and there were no big hang-ups :(  There was a figure-8 race after the derby, though, which is something we'd never seen.  A first time for everything!

They did have some pretty good entertainment before the derby and in between heats, which was pretty cool.  This guy named Dewayne Spaw sang some country songs and I thought he was very good.  He was touring a couple of different county fairs which doesn't seem like much, but as my grandma reminded everyone, that's how Loretta Lynn got her start!

Dewayne sang some good ones.  My grandma got her twist on!  Probably my favorite part to this whole video is my grandpa's reaction to this:

We had some good fair food (although not as much as last year...we were paying for that days after), bought some cool items, scored some free things, and had a pretty fun time.  The best part?  It wasn't nearly as hot as last year!  Plus we got some rain while we were watching the derby!

After our time at the fair, we went out to visit Grandma and Grandpa's new little kitten, Chief.

Isn't he a cutie?  He's just 8 weeks old :)  He likes to hide in the combine head from their dog Maggie.  He's named Chief because he has a white line of fur down the center of his back that stands straight up like a head dress when Maggie comes around.

All in all, a very good day back in Jay County!
