Homecoming in Jay County

A couple weeks ago, Jay County had its Homecoming Parade and football game.  It's sort of a big thing for all of Jay County to come to the parade.  We don't have much to do in town, so we LOVE hosting parades.  I can think of five or six annual parades that the town hosts.  We'll hold a parade for anything.

Of course, lots of places have homecoming parades.  Muncie has one--we've just never been.  But we do try to go to Jay County's.  There's always a theme for Homecoming Week, and the school gets pretty spirited with it.  This year the theme was "Holidays."  We did a lot of dressing up at the high school:  Halloween Day, St. Patrick's Day, New Year's Eve Day, Christmas Day, and Fourth of July Day.  Our football team played Muncie South and fought heroically (we lost).  Afterward, Kyle and I chaperoned the homecoming dance.  All in all, a looooooooong day.

Below are a few shots from the parade.  Can't say it hurts to have had about a quarter of the high school students in the parade for students...you get lots of candy thrown to you (or at you)!

Matt, Bets, and Mom waiting for the parade to begin.
Anytime now!
Band/guard = Christmas

Another Christmas float

FFA chose Thanksgiving, of course.

Nick driving his tractor in the parade.  Look at that cutie!

Spanish Club chose El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead, i.e. Day after Halloween)

Can't remember which group this was, but obviously they chose Independence Day :)

French Club chose Mardi Gras.
I don't know what he was supposed to be doing in the parade, but he was pretty dang neat!

And as always, horses come last so no one steps in the poo.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
